JoJo Siwa battling concussion and eye infection after being ‘thrown off’ golf cart

JoJo Siwa has revealed she’s battling concussion and an eye infection after a golf cart accident.

The former Dance Moms star, 23, shared a health update video on social media which saw her wearing an eye patch.

She said she was “very lucky” that she wasn’t more injured, after she got thrown off a golf cart.

The Celebrity Big Brother star, who is dating co-star Chris Hughes, said: “Things aren’t going too well. If you don’t want to see a scary-looking eye, look away for three seconds, this is what I’m working with.”

She then shared a few images without the patch, showing her almost swollen shut eye.

Siwa went on: “This is the best it’s been, hopefully it’ll be on the mend in the next few days. And on top of this, I also have a concussion. I’m a mess.”

She explained: “Long story short, fell off the golf cart. That’s how I got the concussion. I was turning left, wheel got locked, the golf cart malfunctioned, threw me off.

“Went on my neck, hit my head and flipped over.”

The singer explained her “gnarly eye infection” came up afterwards but it’s not thought to be related to her golf cart accident.

Explaining she’d been to the doctors, she went on: “Due to the concussion, I am basically on bed and couch rest for the next three days or so.”

‘The show must go on’

Siwa added: “Good news about the accident is I’m really lucky how I ended up. I could have been seriously, seriously injured. I’m very lucky how I came out of it.”

In the accompanying caption, she explained she’s recovering but “nowhere near 100%”.

“My eye, however, is taking longer than expected to come around,” she wrote.

Siwa explained she was due in rehearsals, admitting it was “definitely a bit early to be going back into everything”, but “the show must go on”.

She added that if anyone saw her wearing sunglasses she wasn’t being a “drama diva”, it was just to help her recovery.

Siwa is preparing for a cruise event due to set sail on 12 June from Port Canaveral in Florida. The three-night cruise is set to include Q&A sessions, dance parties, live performances and build a bow workshops.
