Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie may have already lined up his next major project, with an Instagram post indicating he’ll be sharing the screen with Billie Eilish.
A now-deleted 10 July post from Canada’s Parkwood National Historic Site seemingly confirmed that Storrie is part of Sarah Polley’s upcoming adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar.
The museum thanked the cast and crew for “another wonderful film experience” and specifically named Eilish and Storrie, saying the pair had filmed scenes at the historic estate, writing: “That’s camera wrap on Parkwood’s role in the Sarah Polley-directed film, The Bell Jar, starring Billie Eilish in her cinematic debut, along with Connor Storrie.” The post also revealed that staff had prepared a bouquet of flowers for Eilish during the shoot, which was then quietly removed from the museum’s social media accounts, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Neither the filmmakers nor representatives for Eilish, Storrie or distributor Focus Features have publicly confirmed the casting, but the deleted post has fuelled speculation that the actor has landed one of his biggest film roles yet.
Eilish’s involvement in The Bell Jar was announced earlier this year, marking her feature film acting debut. The adaptation is being directed by Academy Award winner Sarah Polley, whose previous work includes Women Talking, Away From Her and Take This Waltz.
If confirmed, the role would continue a remarkable run for Storrie following the breakout success of Heated Rivalry. The queer hockey romance became a viral hit after its HBO Max debut, earning widespread critical acclaim and recognition from organisations including the GLAAD Media Awards, the Peabody Awards and the Canadian Screen Awards.
Based on Sylvia Plath’s only novel, The Bell Jar follows Esther Greenwood, a gifted young woman whose prestigious magazine internship in New York gradually gives way to a severe mental health crisis. Several attempts to adapt the book for the screen have stalled over the years, making Polley’s version one of the most closely watched literary adaptations currently in production.
