Met Police look to identify person linked to homophobic attack in Hackney
Met Police are looking to identify a man who may have information on a hate crime in Hackney (Met Police)
Police are appealing for the public’s help after a 23-year-old man was subjected to homophobic abuse and assaulted in Hackney, east London.
The incident happened at Broadway Market in the early hours of Saturday, 4 July, with the London Ambulance Service attending the scene.
The victim later went to hospital for an injury to his face and continues to be supported by specialist LGBTQ+ liaison officers.
The Met Police has now released an image of a man officers would like to speak to as part of their investigation into the reported hate crime.
PC Jack Hiew of Stoke Newington Police Station said officers had carried out “various enquiries” in an attempt to identify the suspect before appealing to the public for information.
Hiew added: “We recognise the impact that this incident has had on the victim, and he continues to be supported by specialist LGBT+ liaison officers.”
Anyone who recognises the man pictured, or who may have information that could assist the investigation, is asked to contact police via 101, quoting CAD reference 4508/26AUG26. Information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
