Canadian ice hockey teammates and Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) stars Emily Clark and Jaime Bourbonnais are engaged.

PWHL Hamilton’s Clark and the New York Sirens’ Bourbonnais shared the news, and fans met the couple’s announcement with excitement.

Posting a series of engagement photos on Instagram to announce the news, Bourbonnais wrote: “Forever and ever and ever!!!”

Clark posted a matching carousel of images with the caption “The joy of my life,” accompanied by a heart emoji.

The pair are one of several prominent queer couples in women’s ice hockey. In the comments on their posts, fans were overjoyed.

“Crying! So happy for you guys,” one wrote. Another shared: “Internally screaming from how cute this is stop.”

Clark and Bourbonnais’s romance has gone from strength to strength alongside their progress on the ice.

Together, they have been stars in the PWHL and have competed at the Olympics and the World Championships.

The pair started dating in 2021 but kept their relationship secret until they went public in 2024.

‘Jaime has helped me blossom into who I really am’

During a joint appearance on the No Straight Answers podcast, they spoke about balancing their relationship alongside work.

“We didn’t want to be a distraction or be drama on the team. Dating a teammate, you want to handle it properly, be professional and keep those two things separate,” Clark said.

“Our relationship wasn’t going to take precedent over all of that, so we wanted to keep it DL … but we weren’t very good at it,” Bourbonnais continued.

“I’m proud to be dating her and I want people to know about us,” Bourbonnais also shared.

“Also, I want someone to be able to relate to us, too. My experience telling my family, going through those confusing emotions, I feel like it’s important for people to see that that’s normal.

“I didn’t know my whole life that I really liked girls and I still don’t really know what my label is, but you don’t need one.”

Clark also openly shared love for her partner. She said: “Jaime has helped me blossom into who I really am.

“I feel like there are so many people who are together in women’s hockey that have made us way more comfortable with it. For them to be so proud and vulnerable and lead the way for us, we’re obviously very appreciative, and we want to do our part and pull our weight, too.”
