Jonathan Bailey to lend his sultry tones to Dracula as he joins vampire project

Jonathan Bailey will star as Count Dracula in Audible’s new full-cast audio adaptation of Bram Stoker’s gothic horror classic, launching worldwide in seven languages.
Joining “sexiest man alive” Bailey in the English-language production are Lesley Manville as Mrs Westenra, with Ella Purnell as Mina, Aimee Lou Wood as Lucy, Louis Partridge as Jonathan Harker, David Jonsson as Dr Seward, Johnny Flynn as Renfield, Francis Lovehall as Arthur and Maggie Gyllenhaal as Professor Van Helsing.
Aurelie de Troyer, Audible’s international head of content, said (via PEOPLE): “This is what Audible does best, crafting immersive audio experiences that transport listeners into the heart of the story.”
She added: “When Dracula whispers in your ear, when you hear his footsteps in the dark but see no reflection, that’s when you understand why we’re the home for this story. Our production elevates the psychological thriller at Dracula’s core, with the battle between Mina and Dracula as the heart of it all.”
Seven languages, local casts
Audible is producing the story in English, Castilian Spanish, French, German, Italian, Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, with each version featuring its own full ensemble cast.
International versions will feature local stars, including Omar Sy and Deva Cassel leading the French-language production as Dracula and Mina respectively.
The adaptation is directed by Mary Lambert and features an original score by Ilan Eshkeri.
Release dates
The English, French, Italian, Castilian Spanish and Latin American Spanish versions will launch exclusively on Audible on 1 October, 2026, with the German version set for 9 February, 2027.
Audible’s official synopsis begins: “When her fiancé vanishes in Transylvania, Mina Murray pieces together fragments of letters, diary entries and chilling testimony to hunt the predator stalking those she loves, only to discover he’s already hunting her.”
Bailey is best known for playing Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix’s Bridgerton and, more recently, Fiyero in both Wicked films.
The beloved actor is openly gay and has spoken about navigating the industry as a gay actor, admitting he once thought being gay would be a hindrance to his career.
