Texas femboy claims DMV revoked custom license plate over ‘indecency’ complaint

A Texas content creator says the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles revoked his custom “I [heart] YAOI” license plate after determining it was “indecent” based on a complaint they received.
The creator, who goes by aSpicyCow online and is known as Amber, shared a video to his X account on 10 July claiming he received a letter from the Texas DMV informing him that someone had filed a complaint about the vanity plate.
According to the notice shown in the video, officials reviewed the complaint and concluded the plate violated the state’s standards, giving him 30 days before it would be cancelled. “Texas is stripping us of our rights!” Amber joked as he showed off both the letter and his customised Toyota Supra.
However, Amber didn’t let the decision slow him down. In the same video, he joked that whoever reported the plate should know: “I always come back and I come back stronger,” before revealing a new hot pink vanity plate reading “BOY <3 KISR”.
At the time of publication, the authenticity of the DMV letter had not been independently verified, and Them’s requests for comment from both Amber and the Texas DMV were still pending.
Amber also claimed in additional comments on 11 July under the video that he would be appealing the Texas DMV and remarking “what’s crazy is the plate has to be manually approved, then someone has to go through a long process to file a complaint about my specific plate, then make it undergo a second review, and then they deem if you lose it or not”.
It seems some good news came from the situation though, as Amber posted on their X page on 27 July stating they had gotten the beloved “I [heart] YAOI” license plate back.
