‘Evil Twink’ photo of young Pope Benedict XVI goes gay viral

Pope Benedict XVI

A photo of a young Pope Benedict XVI has sent the internet into a frenzy, with the collective verdict landing somewhere between “Vatican heartthrob” and “evil twink”.

The 1950s image went viral on X this week, and the gays, as ever, had thoughts.

“Imagine wasting your life dedicated to religion looking like this,” one person mourned. “Give up sex with that facecard? The mindset he had, holy smokes,” wrote another.

“I can recognise an evil twink when I see one,” one user declared. “I know a demon when I see one,” posted another.

Someone else captioned him: “Benedictwink.”

Meanwhile, others questioned the legitimacy of the image, claiming it was AI. The black and white version of the image has been on the internet for years, though.

Long before he became pope, Joseph Alois Ratzinger, who died in 2022, served as the Vatican’s doctrinal enforcer, and authored some of the Church’s most damaging modern teachings on homosexuality, describing gay people’s orientation as “an objective disorder” in 1986 and overseeing a ban on gay men entering the priesthood in 2005.

He was also enrolled in the Hitler Youth as a teenager, and was later conscripted into the army during the Second World War before deserting near its end.

So, maybe “demon twink” isn’t the wildest read.
