Max Balegde has confirmed that he and boyfriend Andrew Spann have broken up after five years.
In an emotional TikTok video posted on the 2 September, the social media star told his followers that he and Spann had been broken up for two weeks.
Balegde – real name Max Trobe – confirmed there is no bad blood between the two, but he chose to end the relationship for “personal reasons” which he decided not to go into.
He went on to say: “There’s been so much love between the two of us, between our families, our friends over those years. When you’re with someone for that long, your lives just become so intrinsically bonded together and you can’t imagine not having them in your life.”
Balegde is currently in Ibiza with friends, and revealed that Spann has moved out of their home to live with his family.
He told his followers that his next steps are to focus on himself and his career.

Who is Max Balegde?
Max Trobe took on his social media moniker Max Balegde as a reference to that iconic video clip of Jesy Nelson attempting a Jamaican accent. He joined TikTok in January 2020 and before long was regularly going viral.
He has courted controversy during his time on social media, perhaps most notably for mocking a proposal that happened on the London Underground, and poking fun at Liam Payne in videos posted before his tragic death.
However he has also done good with his platform, raising funds for trans charity Not A Phase, and defending Chappell Roan over the boundaries she imposes with fans.
Balegde has since gone on to appear on a number of television shows, including the Australian version of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, The Celebrity Apprentice, and Celebrity Gogglebox, which he filmed with friend and podcast co-host George Clark.
Spann has also become a social media influencer since dating Balegde, with the duo often appearing in videos together.
