Boy George calls Paloma Faith ‘political as soggy tuna sandwich’ after Macklemore dig

Boy George has taken aim at Paloma Faith after she showed support for Macklemore’s “Free Palestine” speech.
Macklemore took to the stage as Ed Sheeran’s opening act at MetLife Stadium on 5 September, where he said “Free Palestine” before performing his 2024 protest song “Hind’s Hall” which condemns Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
He also gave a speech, telling the audience he wanted people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank to know that they had not been forgotten.
As a result, the Israeli-American Council launched a petition to Ed Sheeran and his management, urging the musician to remove Macklemore from the remainder of the tour.
Macklemore’s speech was recorded and posted on his socials, captioned: “Wanting all humans to be treated equal should never be controversial.”
Singer Paloma Faith then re-shared the video, captioning it “My Hero”.
Taking to X on 7 September, Boy George took aim at Macklemore and those who supported his statements, writing: “On the subject of Macklemore, it’s important to note that slogans such as ‘Free Palestine’ offer the appearance of moral courage without requiring much political knowledge.
“Ed Sheeran clearly has no spine and as for Paloma Faith and her stupid virtuous squealing of delight about Mackle-bore when she is about as political as a soggy tuna sandwich.
“The whole thing makes me queasy. Good on Pink for speaking out and hopefully at some point Ed Sheeran will address this issue.”
The Culture Club Frontman was referencing singer P!nk, who in response to Macklemore’s speech shared a StopAntisemitism post on her Instagram Story with the caption: “Awful – Jewish fans bought tickets to see Ed Sheeran sing last night in NJ, not to be ambushed by Macklemore’s anti-Israel propaganda.
“Instead, Macklemore walked onstage in a keffiyeh, shouted ‘Free Palestine,’ accused Israel of a false ‘genocide,’ and turned a mainstream event into a political nightmare against the Jewish state.”
She signed the message off saying concert goers were owed refunds and apologies, tagging Ed Sheeran.
