Alex Consani struts into American Horror Story season 13 as trailer released

Trans model Alex Consani appears as a witch in the trailer for season 13 of American Horror Story, titled American Horror Story: 13 (AHS:13).

Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology will see Consani make her AHS debut as Morwenna the witch. Previously, she has starred in Charli XCX and Doja Cat’s music videos

Though Consani is a newcomer, the trailer reveals the return of characters from previous AHS seasons: Murder House, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Cult and Apocalypse. It’s a real Avengers-style crossover!

‘Prepare for a supreme surprise’

The show’s official page for this season reads: “American Horror Story returns for an unrivaled 13th installment that will do justice to everyone’s most feared number. Bringing together an all-star cast, many of whom are reprising fan favorite roles.

“Which iconic horrors will return to haunt the hallowed halls of 13 and what new terrors await? Light your candles, draw your pentagrams and prepare for a supreme surprise.”

The forthcoming season will consist of 13 episodes and, from the trailer, characters from Coven play a big part. AHS: Coven was the third season of the show. The series was set in New Orleans in 2013 and followed a coven of witches descended from Salem.

The trailer sees Sarah Paulson reprising her role as Cordelia Goode. She’s very panicked, sensing another supernatural evil drawing closer. Paulson is said to be playing six characters. On the show’s Wikipedia, she’s credited as Goode, Sally McKenna, Ms Wilhemina Venable, Tuberculosis Karen and Mamie Eisenhower.

Emma Roberts returns as Madison Montgomery while Billie Lourd is credited as Mallory and Winter Anderson.

The trailer also sees AHS regular Evan Peters returning as Kai Anderson from Cult and James Patrick March from Hotel. He’s seen throughout the trailer brooding by a fireplace and declaring that it’s “witch-hunting season”.

Peters is rumoured to be playing five characters in AHS: 13. Alongside Kai and Patrick, he’s credited as Tate Langdon and seems to appear in the trailer as the real-life killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who he played in Murphy’s other anthology series Monster. 

John Carroll Lynch once again dons the makeup of Freak Show killer Twisty the Clown.

Mena Suvari also returns as Elizabeth Short, aka the Black Dahlia.

‘What new terrors await?’

The reunion also features several newcomers as well as Consani. There’s Madelaine Petsch, Joey Pollari, Paul Anthony Kelly, and Orlando Jones. 

Furthermore, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman also star. All appeared in Coven or Apocalypse, so it’s likely they will be reprising their roles too. 

Jessica Lange, who played Fiona Goode in Coven, is returning. This is despite her previous comments that she would not return to the show. She is also listed as Constance Langdon, Sister Jude Martin and Elsa Mars.

Legendary filmmaker John Waters appears in the trailer, wielding a knife and his white suit drenched in blood. He’s playing a character named Mr Phibes, a nod to Vincent Price’s The Abominable Dr. Phibes.

Though singer Ariana Grande was announced as part of the cast, she dropped out because of touring commitments. 

AHS: 13 is set to premiere on September 24 and is expected to run until October 29.
