Troye Sivan samples Madonna and eats cake in raunchy ‘Party’ video

Troye Sivan has left fans agog after sampling a Madonna classic and getting involved in some raunchy renaissance antics on his brand new single “Party”.
The Australian pop star, 30, released the breathless dance track on Thursday (17 September), complete with one of the stand-out music videos of the year, which sees Troye play a medieval knight who spends his days and nights eating, ahem, cake.
After enlisting A-lister Nicole Kidman for the queer-as-hell video for previous single “She’s the Best”, Troye has once again proved his own star power after securing a sample of Madonna’s 2000 single “Music” for the new song.
Directed by Gordon von Steiner, the video also sees gay icon and The Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen make a voice cameo.
“Party” is the second single to be taken from Troye’s upcoming fourth studio album She’s the Best, which is set for release on 9 October.
“Dance music sounds very different on a dance floor than it does coming out of your laptop speaker” Sivan told Rolling Stone of the single. “The repetition becomes almost hypnotic, and I wanted to play with structure in that way,” Sivan said.
“When Gordon von Steiner and I were talking about the video and the song, we kept coming back to the idea that partying is actually quite sacred, especially for queer people.
“Nightlife is often the first place a queer person finds themselves in a room where they’re not the minority, so it becomes a really formative and liberating space for so many of us. And it letting loose is innate to humanity, which I believe it is, then surely people have always partied.
“We wanted to know what that looked like.. So we went back in time and threw one.”
