The Celebrity Traitors continued with its brilliantly chaotic drama on Thursday night (8 October), with Joe Lycett being particularly memorable.

The new run began last week with 21 celebrities arriving at the castle, and has already lived up to its brilliant first season, with a massive Traitors slip-up and hilarious celeb paranoia.

The third episode kicked off with the Traitors forgoing a midnight murder and instead choosing to recruit a Faithful. The next morning, this surprise twist had everyone feeling on edge.

The celebs then met presenter Claudia Winkleman for a task in a wide-open field. The celebs had to use a battering ram to break down the doors of four crypts.

Inside the crypts, there was money to add to the charity prize pot and a trio of shields which would grant the celebs protection from the Traitors’ murder.

In a talking head during the battering ram challenge, Lycett, who is pansexual, made a joking quip about the lengths he’d go to meet out gay Wicked star, Jonathan Bailey.

“I don’t think I’ve ever used a battering ram,” Lycett reflected, before he added tongue-in-cheek: “I would use a battering ram to get into Jonathan Bailey’s house, but that’s it.”

Fans online found the comment to be hilarious. One fan wrote: “Joe Lycett you’re so real.”

Another shared: “Joe Lycett speaking what we’re all thinking.”

Lycett is really showing up on the show; he was a star of the first episode when he called out Richard E. Grant for accidentally revealing that he’s a Traitor. The exchange in the first episode is sure to go down in TV history.

The most recent episode also saw Myha’la, a Faithful, be banished as the cast believed she was a Traitor.

Her departure leaves three out LGBTQ+ contestants on the show: Bella Ramsey, Joe Lycett and Sebastian Croft.

When is The Celebrity Traitors next on?

The Celebrity Traitors continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 8pm on Friday (9 October). In tonight’s episode, viewers are set to see who the Traitors will be eliminating next.

The celebrity spin-off is filmed at Ardross Castle in the Highlands and follows the same paranoia-fuelled format as the civilian series, with Traitors plotting in secret while Faithfuls try to identify them before the next banishment.

This series has already started with a bang, but there are even more intense moments on the horizon.

Show producers have reportedly ditched a planned cliffhanger after an “unthinkable” incident led them to change their edit to accommodate an “epic moment” later in the series.
