Holland Taylor reveals why she and partner Sarah Paulson still don’t live together after 12 years

Holland Taylor has revealed that Sarah Paulson has been staying at her Los Angeles house for “almost a year”, while Paulson waits to move into a new property she has bought.
The 83-year-old actor shared the update during a 20 October appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, as she spoke about how she and Paulson, 51, make their relationship work while still maintaining separate homes.
Taylor told host Drew Barrymore: “Well, we do as much time as we possibly can, because work takes us apart constantly. But I have an apartment here [in New York City], and [Paulson] stays here in my apartment when she’s here.”
She added that when they are both in New York City at the same time, they stay at her apartment “together”.
Why Sarah Paulson is staying at Holland Taylor’s LA house
Taylor said their Los Angeles set-up is slightly different right now, even though they still have separate homes there.
“In L.A., I have a separate house from hers, but her new house, she hasn’t moved into,” Taylor said.
She then explained how long the arrangement has been going on: “It’s been almost a year since she’s been staying in my house in L.A., too. So we’re together as much as geography and our jobs let us be.”
When Barrymore asked how long the couple have been together, Taylor replied: “I think it’s 12 years, going on.”
Why do they still live apart?
Paulson has previously spoken about why not living together full-time works for them. In May 2024, she said on the SmartLess podcast episode: “Yeah, we don’t live together. That’s the secret to it,” adding: “No, because my favorite thing to do, we fall asleep holding hands. I like to sleep near her,” before joking: “I don’t want to be around her the rest of the time. Just kidding.”
Taylor and Paulson are a high-profile Hollywood couple, and have previously spoken about the public fascination with their age gap.
