Gay pride is music to Virgin’s ears

Virgin Mobile is the first blue chip company sign up as a gold sponsor for the massive EuroPride London festival taking place across the city during the last two weeks in June and featuring EuroPride day on Saturday, July 1.

The mobile phone service provider will host, as their main attraction, the Virgin Mobile Cabaret Stage in London’s Leicester Square following the largest ever LGBT Pride Parade through central London from Oxford Street.

The Virgin Mobile Cabaret Stage will feature the best of Britain’s gay club cabaret artists. The five-hour show running from 3:00 till 8:00 pm will be produced by the renowned team of Jimmy Smith and Richard Byron of Mitchell and Butlers’ ‘Black Cap’ and ‘Two Brewers’ pubs fame. The show, which played to capacity audiences at Pride London 2005, will culminate with the finale of the national ‘Drag Idol Two’ competition.

“Following the amazing success of last year’s show this event has now firmly established itself as Britain premier gay club cabaret artists showcase. Already new acts from the competition have joined the ranks of the UK’s best loved performers,” said producer Jimmy Smith.

EuroPride 2006 marks the third year that Virgin Mobile have supported London’s Pride festival earning the company a reputation as the most ‘gay friendly’ of all mobile phone service providers. Stephen Rogan, Head of Sponsorship for the company said today: “Virgin Mobile are really pleased to be sponsoring Pride for the 5th consecutive year. The Virgin Mobile Cabaret Stage will return again to get the party going and with this year being EuroPride it looks set to be the best yet.”

The EuroPride London festival, from June 17 to July 2, will feature over 300 events including a spectacular finale at The Royal Albert Hall. The parade on EuroPride day will start at Oxford Street for the first time and is followed by the Virgin Mobile Cabaret, the Rally in Trafalgar square and a party throughout Soho. All events on EuroPride day are free.
