Noel Edmonds plays gay
Fans of the television comedy show Little Britain are in for a treat tonight as a familiar face will step into the role of “only gay in the village” Daffyd.
TV veteran Noel Edmonds will don the tight lycra and give us his unique take on the much-quoted character this evening when he appears as a guest on the Channel 4 show The Friday Night Project.
The Mirror reports that Edmonds, 58, looks somewhat uncomfortable in the trademark skin-tight costume that has made Daffyd one of the most recognised comedy creations of recent TV history.
The sketch Edmonds will perform this evening is a send-up of former Steps singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins, who shocked the nation by revealing he is gay, before entering the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this month.
Watkins, who grew up in Rhonnda Valley in south Wales, said, “I come from a small valley in Wales and it just wasn’t the thing to do to be gay. It’s a bit of a cliche – but I was the only gay in the village.”
Edmonds, an iconic TV personality throughout the 1970s and 80s, disappeared from our screens for over a decade before making a comeback last year with hit game show Deal Or No Deal.
