Brighton Pride announces 2009 theme
Following a record number of suggestion from Pride members, Pride in Brighton and Hove has announced that the theme for the 2009 event will be “Pride Beside The Seaside.”
The winning suggestion was provided by Saskia Jackson from Brighton, and voted for unanimously by the Brighton Pride Board of Trustees and Staff.
Ms Jackson was awarded a VIP Pride day on Saturday 1st August 2009.
Judith Manson, Fundraising and Communications Manager for Pride in Brighton and Hove, said:
“Pride Around the World is a hard act to follow but we are delighted with the 2009 theme which brings Pride in Brighton and Hove back home.
“We were particularly taken with this suggestion as it gives us an opportunity to showcase what makes Brighton and Hove so special and why we have such a large and diverse LGBT community.”
Previous themes have included “Pride: The Musicals”, “Carry On Pride”, “The Greatest Show on Earth”, “Silver Screen”, and “Heroes and Heroines”.
Building on 2008’s success, the organisers are holding the third annual feedback event on Tuesday 18th November, 6-8pm at The Jurys Inn Hotel.
The feedback session allows community and voluntary groups, individuals and business to attend and suggest improvements for the 2009 Pride celebrations.
