Yorkshire: Man admits to breaching sexual offences prevention order after searching for gay porn and Tom Daley images
A man has admitted to breaching the terms of a sexual offences prevention order after he told police officers that he had been searching the internet for gay pornography and images of Olympic diver Tom Daley.
Trevor Emmett, of Edward Close, Southowram, Calderdale, West Yorkshire, was remanded in custody to appear at Bradford Crown Court for sentencing on 28 March.
Emmett had admitted to a breach of the order which had been imposed on him as part of a previous conviction and prison sentence for possessing indecent images.
The Halifax Courier reports the order banned him from deleting images from any technology that he owned.
Magistrates heard how police officers went to his home to check on him and asked him to produce any devices in his possession.
The 38-year-old then went into a bedroom to fetch a mobile, but officers became concerned about the amount of time that he was taking.
They then saw him standing in the room deleting its history.
Emmett was said to have told officers: “I was scared. I had been looking at gay porn.”
Magistrates also heard he had also been looking for images of a “young Tom Daley.”
Jo Lata, mitigating, said Emmett had panicked as he had been looking at gay porn.
He will be sentenced later this month.
Officers also found a lap top under a bed which Emmett had not declared.
