Spice Girl Mel B to present singer Adam Lambert with GLAAD award
Spice Girl Melanie B, has expressed excitement that she will present singer Adam Lambert with a GLAAD Media Award at this Saturday’s ceremony in San Francisco.
In March, GLAAD announced that Lambert will receive the Davidson/Valentini Awards at the 24th annual GLAAD Media Awards on 11 May at the Hilton Hotel in San Francisco.
The organisation cited the singer’s “continued success as one of the world’s best-selling pop stars shows LGBT people that they can be themselves and make it in a mainstream industry that many feel unfairly rejects them.”
“Adam is fearless on stage and astonishes audiences in every country he performs in.”
Mel B tweeted to say that she was excited to be given the honour of presenting the award, and that she was looking forward to it.

The awards are presented nationally by Ketel One Vodka and Wells Fargo. This is the second time Lambert has been honoured with an award, as he was also a recipient in 2010.
After GLAAD announced that Lambert was to receive the award, Norm Kent, the editor and publisher of the South Florida Gay News, called the award “a joke.” Kent claimed in an editorial that Lambert hasn’t done anything to deserve the recognition.
Bill Clinton was a controversial choice for the Advocate for Change award, as he signed the Defense of Marriage Act into law during his presidency.
When presenting his award, Hunger Games actor Jennifer Lawrence, slipped up when pronouncing Clinton’s name, but recovered, and he was unfazed by the brief mistake.
