Michael Sam is dating 23-year-old swimmer Vito Cammisano

Michael Sam’s boyfriend has been revealed as 23-year-old swimmer Vito Cammisano.

Sam, 24, made history on Saturday, becoming the first openly gay player in the NFL when he was drafted to the St Louis Rams.

Moments after learning of his draft to the Rams, he kissed his then-unknown boyfriend on live TV, taking their relationship public.

His boyfriend has now been revealed as Cammisano, after the swimmer posted a picture of the pair kissing on Instagram, praising his boyfriend.

Cammisano said: “Wow. What a day. On cloud 9. So proud and happy! #stl #rams #draft”

Cammisano, from Kansas City, attended the University of Missouri alongside Sam, where Sam was on the football team and Cammisano on the swim team.

Despite not being in the media spotlight before, in recent weeks he has posted several photos, training alongside and cuddling with Sam.

ABC News reports that the couple have been together for several months.
