Tom Daley wins silver medal for synchronised diving at Commonwealth Games
Tom Daley has won a silver medal for synchronised diving the Commonwealth Games.
The diving star was performing in the 10m synchronised diving final at the games, alongside diving partner James Denny.
The pair took home 399.36 points, but were pipped by openly gay Australian diving star Matthew Mitcham and diving partner Dominic Bedggood, who took home the gold with 399.54 points.
Earlier today Daley came third in the preliminaries for the 10m springboard dive.
Daley was the defending champion in both events, having won gold at both the 10m individual platform and 10m synchronised pairs titles in Dehli four years ago.
Last week, Daley denied claims that he would retire from diving after the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 20-year-old diver, who won bronze at London 2012, dismissed claims that he would turn his back on the sport because of a fear of failing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
He added: “Rio in 2016 is still my ultimate goal. But how far I go on after that really depends on how long my body holds out. Some divers last until they are 38, some until they are 22. I just have to listen to my body and then play it by ear.”
