Amazon Prime is to make all episodes of its hit series ‘Transparent’ free for one day only.

The company announced this week that, with no membership required, anyone would be able to watch the awards-nominated series

“We’re incredibly proud of everyone involved in the making of Transparent—the team took a risk and it paid off,” said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com. “Big kudos and congrats to Jill, Jeffrey, and all the cast and crew.”

Anyone can watch Transparent at no cost, with no membership required, this Saturday using the Amazon Instant Video app for TVs, connected devices and mobile devices, or online at Amazon.co.uk/Transparent.

Amazon Prime’s ‘Transparent’ was earlier this month named the Best TV Comedy at the Golden Globes, and Jeffrey Tambor was named Best Actor in a TV Comedy for his role playing a transgender mother.

The show’s writer and producer Jill Soloway dedicated the programme to trans teen Leelah Alcorn, who killed herself by stepping in front of a truck last month.

17-year-old Alcorn from Ohio posted a heartbrekaing suicide note on Tumblr, citing her parent’s refusal to accept her trans status, and calling for better education and awareness, before taking her own life by stepping in front of a truck.
