US: Investigation underway after Nebraska gay bar destroyed by fire

An investigation is underway, after a popular Nebraska gay bar was destroyed by a massive fire.
The Karma Nightclub and Cabaret, in Lincoln, Nebraska, was evacuated on Saturday evening after the fire broke out  – with firefighters battling for hours to bring the blaze under control.
However, the club – which has been open for just over a year – was almost entirely wrecked by the damage.
Lincoln Fire Battalion Chief Leo Bene said the business was a “total loss” after the roof caved in.
However, the cause of the fire remains unknown – and the investigation will take some time, as sub-zero temperatures caused the water from fire hoses to freeze.
Inspector Don Gross told the Journal Star: “It might take up to two weeks. It’s just a block of ice right now.”
Owner Kyle Baun said he was “heartbroken” to see the damage, adding: “Though the physical structure is no longer there the memories will carry on.”
Bryan Ruhs, who DJed at the club, said: “It’s like watching a part of my life burn away.”
“[When I first went to the club]Â I was 18 and had just come out.
“It was the first time I felt like I didn’t have to hide myself. It was my, our, home… and now it’s gone”
