Should Tony Blair be the UK’s first official LGBT envoy?

At the PinkNews debate, Evan Davies asked if Britain has an LGBT envoy, would Tony Blair make a good candidate?
Evan Davies joked that Tony Blair, likely to be stepping down as Middle East Peace Envoy, has some time on his hands now, and might want to take on the role under a potential Labour government.
Labour’s Yvette Cooper replied: “To be fair [what] Tony Blair did in Government on LGBT equality was huge, a whole series of laws that changed, including many that were controversial at the time but are taken for granted now”.
However she then suggested that out peer Lord Cashman might be a better choice. He is currently Labour’s LGBT envoy, and likely to be first choice if the role is created under a Labour government in the future.
The debate is generously supported by KPMG.
