Does UKIP cause earthquakes? Tremors in Thanet after party takes council

UKIP politicians who blamed floods on same-sex marriage might have to look closer to home – after an earthquake in the party’s hub of Thanet.

The party sacked councillor David Silvester last year after he claimed flooding was God’s punishment for same-sex marriage, while it refused to drop Parliamentary candidate Ted Strike when it emerged he had also blamed bad weather on homosexuality.

However, surely it can be no coincidence that an earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale was felt in Thanet – just weeks after UKIP took control of the District Council.

Party leader Nigel Farage stood as an MP in Thanet South – and despite losing out on his seat in Parliament, UKIP managed to gain control of its first district authority in the UK.

An earthquake hit parts of Kent just before 3am this morning – which could be felt in Thanet alongside Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable, Dover and Deal.




The internet has already concluded that the earthquake was God’s punishment for voting UKIP.
