Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange to play fueding Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in Ryan Murphy show
Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon will play Joan Crawford and Bette Davis in an upcoming Ryan Murphy show.
The Hollywood heavyweights will play the rivals in the upcoming Murphy series ‘Feud’, reports Vanity Fair.
The new show has been commissioned by FX following the success of Murphy’s other projects The People v OJ Simpson and the American Horror Story.
Lange will play Crawford and Sarandon will take to the silver screen as Davis.
The new series will explore the “bitter feud” between the two women as well as their collaboration in the film What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Other stars joining the legends include Stanley Tucci, Judy Davis and Dominic Burgess, as well as Alfred Molina.
Brad Pitt will be named as an executive producer on some episodes, and Murphy will direct several.
Lange and Sarandon will produce the drama, shooting of which will begin in the autumn.
John Landgraf, the CEO of FX said in a statement: “Feud adds a third and equally ambitious franchise to Ryan’s unprecedented slate of FX anthological limited series and marks our third such collaboration with studio partner 20th Century Fox Television/Fox 21. The series will offer a seductive, insightful look at what lies behind legendary personality conflicts.”
