Crowds shouted in joy yesterday as a woman got down on one knee and proposed to her police officer girlfriend during Pride in London celebrations.

The beautiful moment that the two women, Jane and Dizzy, got engaged was captured on video and shared on the British Transport Police Twitter account.

Twitter user Hannah Eachus also captured some beautiful images of the two.

The short but sweet proposal saw the officer say yes and the two shared an embrace as crowds around cheered for them.

It was the 45th annual London Pride parade held and marked 50 years since decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales.

Thousands of people lined the streets of London for the celebrations and walked down Oxford Street to Trafalgar Square.

Over 150 police officers joined the event, as well as people from the London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and British Transport Police.

In 2016, two gay police officer couples got engaged.

PC Phil Adlem got down on one knee to propose to his partner Jonathan Sammons, while PC Sam Philpot separately popped the question to PC Martin Coughlan.

However, PC Adlem has since said that he was taken aback by hatred and abuse after the clip went viral.
