Stephen Colbert had a brilliantly hilarious surprise for Hillary Clinton, when she appeared on The Late Show last night.

In a bittersweet statement, Colbert introduced Clinton as the women who he “would’ve bet anything” would have been the next President of the United States.

Colbert, who hosted an election special on the night, said he had prepared an entire show for when she was announced president-elect, which of course went unaired.

He then presented Clinton with an envelope of the unused material, which had one particularly “cheeky” joke.

Clinton, could not stop laughing as Colbert showed her a photo from a sketch in which naked men came on stage with the immortal phrase “I’m with her,” written across their backsides.

Clinton was on the show to talk about her new book, What Happened, which discusses the highs, and of course the lows, of her presidential campaign.

““It wasn’t easy. It was painful. It was horrible, reliving it. And, you know, being as candid, open as I could be about the mistakes I made, and talking about those.”

She said that the primary goal of the book was “to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

Good-naturedly, she joked in response to the comment that people want her to “go away’ that they should “take up a collection to send me somewhere really nice.”

She then decisively said “I am not going anywhere.”

Getting serious, she expressed concerns about Trump’s recent address to the United Nations that he may “destroy” North Korea.

“I thought it was very dark, dangerous, not the kind of message that the leader of the greatest nation in the world should be delivering.”

“You should lead with the commitment to try and avoid conflict however you can.”
