Drag Race Holland manages what the US election hasn’t so far – it crowned a winner, baby
Drag Race Holland crowned its first-ever winner as the US election count rolled into its third day. Warning, spoilers obviously follow.
RuPaul’s legion of superstars just gained a sickening new member after Envy Peru was crowned the winner of Drag Race Holland.
The South American native is the first Latina to win a Drag Race season (outside of the short-lived and mostly forgotten-about Chilean adaptation, The Switch Drag Race).
“I’m proud to be a face, example, and role model for the Latin community. They’re lacking acceptance,” Envy Peru told Entertainment Weekly after her win.
“”There’s a lot of machismo there, so I just want to show the kids who are queer that you can achieve your dreams, even though you’re Latin and queer.”

Named for her home country, Envy Peru entered Drag Race Holland already the most-followed drag queen in Benelux.
She entered the competition alongside her drag sister Abby OMG – but their relationship hit the rocks after Envy told the judges Abby deserved to go home.
“It was painful to watch because I love her and she’s dear to me, but I’m honest,” Envy told EW.
“I don’t like to sugar-coat things. I’m a real sister. Maybe it’s that Dutch directness.”
Envy stormed into the final with four main challenge wins, and was crowned after a final choreography challenge in which she danced to RuPaul’s “Sissy That Walk” in a Kylie Minogue-inspired look.
“Kylie is my ultimate,” Envy said. “The first time I saw that video, I knew for sure, okay, I’m a homosexual!”
She admitted that the heavy costume – embellished with 10,000 stones – “wasn’t the best for that choreography”, something the judges picked up on, especially given her run of flawless looks elsewhere in the season.
Drag Race Holland is the first season of the franchise to air that was filmed during COVID-19, and Envy said the pandemic posed a lot of challenges.
“It was so stressful,” she said.
“Things didn’t come on time! It was stressful to realise a concept while the whole world is on lockdown. I talked to some designers on Zoom and went to a fitting with some of them with social distancing, so it’s totally different versus how you’d do it normally, but you have to be creative because there’s a title there and you have to bring your best, and every girl did that.”
There’ll be no escaping Drag Race in 2021.
While the Dutch competition is now over, there’s no shortage of Drag Race to look forward to.
Drag Race UK season two has been confirmed for “early 2021”, with RuPaul and Michelle currently in London filming, after the pandemic paused production halfway through the season. A third run has been announced for later on in the year.
In the US, season 13 and season six of Drag Race All Stars are reportedly in the can, and will likely air at the start of the year. A second season of Drag Race Canada has not yet been confirmed, but seems likely given the international success of the first run.
The franchise’s producers have teased that more international editions are also in the pipeline.
