JoJo Siwa reveals her ‘perfect girlfriend’ was ‘super encouraging’ of her momentous coming out

JoJo Siwa has revealed she has a girlfriend after coming out as queer.

Siwa recently came out as LGBT+ by sharing a photo of herself wearing a t-shirt that said “best gay cousin ever”; she’s since followed that up by talking about her “perfect girlfriend” on a US talk show.

In an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she explained how she was encouraged to come out by “the most amazing, wonderful, perfect, most beautiful girlfriend in the whole world”, confirming for the first time that she is in a relationship.

The 17-year-old told host Jimmy Fallon she decided to officially come out after a TikTok video of her dancing to Born This Way went viral and fans started to speculate if she was part of the LGBT+ community.

JoJo Siwa recalled talking with her girlfriend. “We were both like, ‘Technically, I still haven’t confirmed it’. And so I was like, ‘I kinda just want to post this picture on my Reels story’, and she was super encouraging. She was like, ‘Do it!’ And I was like, ‘All right’, and I did it”.

She explained that she was already out to family and friends, who were very supportive of her and knew about the relationship, and that she wasn’t concerned about any backlash to her public coming out.

“I was like, ‘Well, technically, that was a really big risk that I took posting that’,” she shared.

“But if I lost everything I created because of being myself and because of loving who I want to love, I don’t want it. That’s not what I want if I can’t love who I want to love. That’s one of the most important things to me”.

Although she didn’t name her girlfriend, Siwa couldn’t contain her happiness

“I’m just so happy because now I get to share what makes me the happiest with the world, and it makes my heart so happy.”

JoJo Siwa also announced she is working with Nickelodeon on a musical called The J Team that focuses on her life and the idea of staying true to yourself.
