Donald Trump’s pathetic, arrogant resignation from Screen Actors Guild is truly a work of art

The twice-impeached former president Donald Trump

Former president Donald Trump has preemptively quit the Screen Actor’s Guild with a letter so hilariously pathetic it definitely should have stayed in drafts.

The fuming resignation came on Thursday (4 February), after Trump learned the SAG-AFTRA Guild had “overwhelmingly” voted that he violated their guidelines by inciting the Capitol insurrection.

Trump, who was a guild member for more than 30 years thanks to a handful of film cameos, decided he’d be the one to break up with them first.

“I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!” whined the literal grown man.

“While I’m not familiar with your work, I’m very proud of my work on movies such as Home Alone 2Zoolander and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; and television shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-AirSaturday Night Lives, and of course, one of the most successful shows in television history, The Apprentice – to name just a few!”

Having catalogued this sterling resume, the petulant septuagenarian then returned to his favourite, faithful pastime – railing at the news media.

“[I] also greatly helped the cable news television business (said to be a dying platform with not much time left until I got involved in politics), and created thousands of jobs at networks such as MSDNC and Fake News CNN, among many others,” he insisted.

True to form, he went on to moan that the guild had “done nothing for me” and claimed that the disciplinary process was nothing but “a blatant attempt at free media attention to distract from your dismal record as a union”.

Donald Trump then signed the letter with a fat black marker and shared it with Fox News to make sure the whole world knows exactly how little he cares.

The childlike missive was widely mocked on social media, particularly after SAG-AFTRA issued its incredible, two-word response.

“Thank you,” came the caustic comeback.
