Donald Trump’s homophobic bestie Franklin Graham pours cold water on 2024 run

Franklin Graham (R) talks with President Donald Trump

Franklin Graham poured cold water on Donald Trump’s rumoured 2024 run, saying the former president won’t be healthy enough.

Graham, who blamed gay people for a “moral 9/11” and is the son of evangelist Billy Graham, preached at Trump’s inauguration in 2017.

He backed Trump throughout his presidency and through multiple accusations of sexual misconduct, insisting in 2018 that the anti-LGBT+ president “defends the faith”, and that he had “admitted his faults”.

But now, following Trump’s announcement that he was “100 per cent thinking about running again” for president in 2024, Graham has expressed doubts.

Speaking to Axios on HBO, Graham said that for Trump, running again would “be a very tough thing to do” as he is too old and unhealthy.

He said: “I think for him, everything will depend on his health at that time. If he still has energy and strength like he does. I don’t.”

If Trump were to run again for the US presidency in 2024, he would be 78 years old, the same age as current president Joe Biden is now.

“You know the guy does not eat well, you know, and it’s amazing the energy that he has,” he said. However, he added: “He’s lost weight, 15 pounds, Maybe. So he might be in good health and in good shape. I don’t know.”

Ahead of Trump’s 2016 election, his personal physician Dr Harold Bornstein released a letter in which he wrote: “If elected, Mr Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”

He claimed that Trump’s physical exam showed “only positive results”, that “his physical strength and stamina are extraordinary”, that his blood pressure was “astonishingly excellent”, and that he had “no history of ever using alcohol or tobacco products”.

However in 2018, Bornstein revealed that Trump had dictated the letter himself.

In 2019, Trump’s White House physical exam revealed that he was clinically obese.
