Electrician jailed for castrating eight people and killing one he met on BDSM sites
An electrician in Germany, who castrated eight people and killed one in gory kitchen table operations after advertising on BDSM websites, has been jailed.
Horst B, 67, whose anonymity is protected under German law, carried out the illegal operations between July 2018 and March 2020.
He started advertising his services on BDSM websites when he found himself in debt after the death of his wife, the Munich regional courtroom heard during his trial, which began in October.
While he began by offering his clients beatings and electric shocks, he soon moved on to services which could make him a lot more money. Castrations, he told the court, were “in demand”.
B advertised himself online as a “professional, trained” doctor, which helped him to stand out in forums where others were offering so-called “treatments” with gardening shears.
But he told the court that in reality, he had looked up how to perform the operation online, according to 20 Minuten. He also watched two operations at a hospital.
“I just had the confidence to do it, because I read a lot on the internet,” he said.
“You can look up everything – how to do stitches, how you stop bleeding.”
B collected surgical instruments and narcotics before performing the first operation on his kitchen table, for which he was paid €1200 (£1,028).
For his first seven victims, he removed their testicles, and for the eighth he also partially severed their penis. One of the victims, however, deteriorated after the operation and died.
Concerned that he would lose his source of income, B hid the man’s body in a box and attempted to dispose of it. However, it was discovered by police three weeks later, and later led to his arrest.
B initially faced a murder charge, which he denied, for failing to help the man, although he admitted to performing the operations.
The murder charge was eventually dropped, and he was convicted of aggravated, dangerous and simple assault.
On Tuesday, B was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison.
The court took into account the fact that each of his victims had been voluntarily castrated, and heard that one wanted to become a “eunuch”, another thought the operation would cure an addiction to porn, and a third underwent the operation as part of affirming their gender identity.
