The Mistress of the Dark Elvira is unsurprised by Madonna seemingly coming out as gay and to be honest, we can see why.

Cassandra Peterson, who plays Elvira, told TMZ that she wasn’t shocked by the pop star’s hint at her sexuality, saying that Madonna actually flirted with Peterson’s girlfriend in the past.

The pop icon raised eyebrows in a TikTok clip posted Monday (10 October) where she failed to throw a pair of underwear into a laundry bin, with a caption reading: “If I miss, I’m gay!”

After having the video explained to her – replying with an ecstatic “whaaat!?” – Cassandra admitted that Madonna had “hit on my girlfriend!”

“Yes! She wanted to hire her as a trainer, but it was obvious that she wanted more than, um, training,” she said, laughing.

“I’ll just say that it was a long time ago.

“But I think that Madonna has always said she’s pretty fluid. I mean, what, she kissed Britney Spears.

Peterson met her girlfriend, personal trainer Teresa Wierson, at the Hollywood Gold’s Gym in 2002. After forming a platonic bond, they quickly developed feelings for each other.

Their relationship was predominantly a secret until she released her memoir Yours Cruelly, Elvira in 2021 where she explained she couldn’t help but notice her from afar.

When asked by TMZ what advice she would give to LGBTQ+ people who are still waiting to come out, she said that they should live their truth, but at a time that’s comfortable for them.

“You need to wait until it’s comfortable for you,” she said.

“Don’t feel pressured to do it, you know? It’s good to come out and I think you’ll feel better when you do, but I don’t think there’s a right time for people to do it.

“I can guarantee you one thing, when you do, you’re gonna really feel so much better, like a giant weight lifted off your chest, and I already had too much weight on my chest so it was good to get it off there.”

While Madonna hasn’t yet made a statement clarifying the video, the signal seems pretty clear. Her clip received over 1.6 million likes and 79,000 shares on TikTok alone.
