Drag Race UK delivers epic finale as RuPaul crowns another winner, baby

The Drag Race UK winner has finally been Ru-vealed. Warning – spoilers.

In the season 4 finale, Danny Beard took on Cheddar Gorgeous, Black Peppa and Jonbers Blonde as the final four did battle, taking on a classic finale dance challenge with a bit of help from choreographer Claudimar Neto.

In the least subtle plug of all time, the queens performed their own verses to a megamix of RuPaul’s greatest hits, before heading out on the runway in their finest top four eleganza.

After an untucked moment with Drag Race UK’s former crown snatchers The Vivienne, Lawrence Chaney and Krystal Versace, Cheddar Gorgeous and Danny Beard were named the top two queens of the season.

And after a final lip-sync to “This Is My Life” by Dame Shirley Bassey , it was Danny Beard who was named the winner of Drag Race UK season four.

From start to finish, Drag Race UK’s fourth season has been a bit of a rollercoaster. There have been the monumental highs: “Lairy Poppins” was one of the best Rusicals to date, the makeover challenge introduced fans to the instantly iconic Queen Team, and we finally got a crumb of trans representation.

Baby’s exit, too, was one of the most powerful moments in Drag Race history, reaffirming that it’s OK to put your mental health first.

It was also interesting to see Michelle Visage take the seat as a head judge and envision what RuPaul’s Drag Race might look like without Mama Ru herself.

Of course, there were a few moments where it felt best to look away: Dakota Schiffer’s elimination felt entirely unjust, while the Snatch Game felt a little subpar. The acting challenge, too, wasn’t the best.

However, they were just blips in the road. Overall, what a season.
