Frank Ocean finally teases new music and fans are losing their minds

Frank Ocean fans are screaming, crying, and throwing up after the singer hinted that he might finally have some new music in the works.

It’s been seven years since the singer dropped the critically acclaimed album Blonde, and fans have been begging for more music ever since.

There had been a few singles here and there, like “In My Room” and “DHL”, but waiting for Ocean’s next big project to finally come about felt like a pipe dream for followers.

That was until last week when the “Chanel” singer took to Instagram to give his followers a glimpse at one of his new songs.

The 60-second snippet is just as dreamy, emotional, and synth-heavy as Ocean’s music has ever been.

Needless to say, when Ocean dropped that clip on social media, fans lost their minds.

That being said, some are trying hard not to get their hopes too high, afraid of being burned by Ocean again.

Ocean had promised fans a new single back in 2020, which could only be purchased on vinyl.

However, that December, it was announced that, “due to the events of this year”, the single would no longer be released, and refunds would be issued.

Then this year, Ocean sparked rabid excitement when it was announced that he would headline Coachella in his biggest-ever live performance.

Festival-goers were mostly made up of Frank Ocean fans, and people started crowding around outside the main stage hours before his performance was due to start in the hopes of getting just a glimpse at the elusive singer.

Fans were utterly heartbroken, then, when Ocean’s set was cut short, due to his late start and the festival’s curfew. There was also widespread disappointment from fans over what they did get to see of Ocean’s performance, with many fan-favourite songs being played from a tape as part of a DJ-set, rather than sung live.

Unlike other performances from Coachella, Frank’s was not broadcast live on YouTube, much to the disappointment of fans who couldn’t get hold of tickets.

After the performance, Coachella announced that Ocean would not be headlining the festival’s second weekend – a devastating revelation for fans who had forked out hundreds especially to see him.

So many Ocean stans are hesitant to let their guard down just yet – but as of now, all signs point to a new Frank album.

Everyone keep your fingers and toes crossed and say a prayer to the alternative R&B gods.
