The Beatles biopic cast has been revealed, and it’s looking like a who’s who of thirsty queer favourites, with Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan and Harrison Dickinson set to star.
The cast for Sam Mendes’ four upcoming biopics was announced during CinemaCon 2025 on Monday (31 March). Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, Paul Mescal is set to take on the role of Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan will be Ringo Starr and Joseph Quinn will be seen as George Harrison.
During the announcement, Mendes revealed that the four films, each told from the stars’ different perspective, are due in cinemas four years from now.
“We’re not making one film about the Beatles, we’re making four,” Mendes said, according to The Guardian. “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”

The Oscar-winning director, best- known for Bond films Skyfall and Spectre, as well as American Beauty and 1917, described the Fab Four as “the most significant band of all time”, and saying they had “redefined the culture and stayed with you for a life time”.
Mendes told the audience at CinemaCon: “There had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation. I can assure you there is plenty left to explore and I think we found a way to do that.”
A new generation of thirsty queers are likely to be thrilled, with Dickinson and Mescal being fan-favourites.
Mescal, seen most recently in Gladiator II and All of Us Strangers, certainly caused a stir when he turned up at the 2025 summer Gucci show in a pair of very short shorts. He won the leading actor BAFTA in 2021 for Normal People, and a Scottish BAFTA for best actor in 2023 for Aftersun.
Mescal’s inclusion in the cast is less-than-surprising after Gladiator II director Ridley Scott accidentally let the cat out of the bag during an on-stage conversation with The Dark Knight filmmaker Christopher Nolan in December.
A month earlier the real-life Ringo Starr more than hinted that Keoghan was set to play him in the series of films, saying he believed “he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”
Dickinson, who appeared in Beach Rats – where he showed a fair amount of flesh – and more recently Apple TV’s wartime drama Blitz, was shortlisted for a BAFTA as best supporting actor this year, for his work in Babygirl.
