Trans House of the Dragon star Abigail Thorn reveals that she’s landed a major new action role

Trans British actor Abigail Thorn has landed a new role as a major action star, she has revealed. 

Thorn is probably best-known as Sharako Lohar in House of the Dragon, a fierce admiral in the Triarchy navy, and ally to Team Green, led by Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke).

Having come out publicly as transgender in 2021, she has also appeared in Star Wars spin-off The Acolyte, becoming the franchise’s first out trans actor.

And she now has even bigger news.

‘It’s going to blow their minds’

In a live recording of the QueerAF podcast, at the annual Trans+ History Week community event, Thorn said: “I can’t say what it is but I am about to start filming a big action thing this summer. I’m having boxing and sword-fighting lessons three times a week and learning to dive across things.

“I said to the producers when I got it, thank you for giving me this because they didn’t write it with a trans woman in mind, they just wrote it. I said thank you because the idea that a trans woman can be an action star has not yet occurred to anyone outside this project. When it does, it’s going to blow their minds.”

Thorn has previously talked about whether her House of the Dragon character was a top or bottom during sex.

Introduced in the final episode of season two of Games of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon, Abigail Thorn’s fearsome Triarchy Admiral, Sharako Lohar, plays a pivotal role in securing the Greens a fleet of naval firepower to take the fight to the Blacks.

Lohar tells Tyland Lannister (Jefferson Hall) that in order to wield her fleet’s power, he must first impress her.

Given the Triarchy officials refer to Lohar as “he,” Tyland was initially expecting to meet with a man.

Instead, he discovers that she’s a woman who uses he/him pronouns and apparently has several wives.
