Before Mariah Carey undoubtedly slays at Brighton Pride in August, she has been praised for performing her “best live vocals in years” at this weekend’s Capital’s Summertime Ball

The legendary 56-year-old American singer-songwriter was the closing act for Capital’s Summertime Ball on Sunday (15 June), following performances from JADE, Jessie J and Reneé Rapp at a sold-out Wembley Stadium.

Fans of the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” icon saw their queen swap her ice crown for a black mini playsuit as she took to the stage and was greeted by a screaming crowd.

She kicked off her set with her 1995 hit “Fantasy” before following up with “Emotions” and “Hero”.

The singer also performed “Always Be My Baby” alongside her hits ‘”Touch My Body” and “It’s Like That.”

She brought the Summertime Ball to a close with her 2005 single “We Belong Together”.

Mariah Carey returned to music recently with the R&B track “Type Dangerous”, the lead single from her upcoming sixteenth studio album.

The Capital’s Summertime Ball performance has been branded Mariah Carey’s “best live vocals in years”.

One fan posted: “The mic was ON! The energy was UP! The vibes were RIGHT & this lamb right here, had the best time!”

How to get tickets for Mariah Carey at Brighton Pride gig

Brighton Pride officially announced Carey will perform in a video shared on their Instagram account, in which Mariah Carey tells the camera: “Let’s make history together, dahlings! See you at Pride On The Park 2025.”

The video then teases “the voice, the icon, the Queen of the Lambs” will be coming for a “UK festival exclusive” performance.

“I can’t wait to see all of your beautiful faces,” the five-time Grammy Award winner then says in the clip.

In the post, Brighton Pride describes Carey’s headline slot as “a performance we’ve been waiting five years for,” promising that it will be “worth the wait”. Mariah Carey was supposed to headline Brighton Pride in 2020 but cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdown restrictions.

The diva-in-residence will headline on Saturday 2 August, while Sugababes will be the stars of the following night, Sunday 3 August.
