All Stars 10: How long was the mid-season filming break?
How long was the filming break in All Stars 10? (World of Wonder)
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 is in its semi-final era, with the top nine queens of the season looking a little different on their return – but how much time passed between the preliminary round and the semi-finals?
Warning: Sickening spoilers ahead for All Stars 10 episode 10.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll be well aware that All Stars 10 has seen a pretty big switch up in its format from previous spinoffs of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The ‘Tournament of All Stars’ saw three groups of six queens (18 in total) compete amongst themselves for three episodes each, with the ‘top three’ of each bracket sent through to the ‘semi-finals’ of the competition, which thus far has consisted of a classic Snatch Game with the merged group of divas.
Fans have noticed, however, that upon their return to the Werk Room after winning their brackets, some of the nine queens looked, shall we say, different, to how they did in the preliminary rounds.
Each queen is wearing a different confessional look, there are many different hairstyles, Jorgeous looks more pickled than ever before, and most notably, both Ginger Minj and Mistress Isabelle Brooks have lost a significant amount of weight – 160 pounds (72kg) in the former’s case.
As Ginger joked at the top of the episode, she’s half the man she used to be – but twice the woman. So how much time passed in between the preliminary rounds and the semi-finals of All Stars 10?
How much time passed between filming the brackets of All Stars 10 and the semi-finals?
In a sentence that’s probably never been said before, Cucu to the rescue; the recently eliminated Cynthia Lee Fontaine (originally on season 8 and 9) appeared at Roscoe’s – a gay bar in Chicago known for hosting Drag Race viewing parties – to spill the tea.
During the viewing party for episode 10 alongside Lydia B. Kollins – who said that “it was a minute” between filming the All Stars 10 preliminary and semi-finals – Cynthia provided the exact dates from leaving to returning to RuPaul’s basement the Werk Room.
“So July 26th was the last day of filming for bracket number three. July 26th, 2024,” she shared.
“And then April 25th, we filmed semi-finals. So that’s why the girls are looking…”
For those counting, that’s nearly exactly nine months.

Cynthia continued, “This is the first time they’re doing this format, so they structured it this way in order that everything was fine, but of course they didn’t know that a lot of the girls [had lost weight].
“Even though they sent us an e-mail saying, ‘You guys have to wear the same confessional looks as in 2024, we were like, ‘No! A lot of us have lost weight.'”
Cynthia was eliminated on last week’s All Stars 10 episode – meaning that on all three of her Drag Race seasons, she has finished in tenth place (due to the yet-to-reenter season’s wild card).
The remaining queens yet to participate in episode 11’s Talent Show are Aja, Bosco and Irene the Alien, Jorgeous, Lydia and Mistress, and Daya Betty and Ginger.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 continues on Fridays on Paramount+ in the US and WOW Presents Plus internationally.
