A RuPaul’s Drag Race star has said they will “never” return to the franchise after branding the fan reaction to All Stars 10 “insufferable”.
River Medway, who appeared on Drag Race UK season three, made the comments on social media after the recent finale to the popular Drag Race spin-off.
All Stars 10 finished with Ginger Minj, competing for the fourth time, claiming the crown and joining the Drag Race Hall of Fame. The win was not without controversy, however, with many fans claiming franchise icon Gingered had been favoured by the judges.
Taking to X on Tuesday (22 July) River, a fan favourite from her time on the show, declared she was “never going back to dragrace btw.” She then explained the two reasons for this. The first being “i’d be really bad at it.” The second being, the “fanbase is insufferable now.”

River provided no extra comment on her thoughts though her followers took to her replies to share their feelings. A lot of people understood where River was coming from, agreeing that the fanbase has its toxic elements.
“Sad but also very understanding,” wrote one person. Others echoed this sentiment while another fan lamented that “it’s sad to think you’ll never ben on my screen again.” Someone one tried to find a positive and suggested, “can you go on love island at least.” Many also sought to bolster River’s confidence in her ability praising her for her time on Drag Race UK.
The Drag Race fandom has been a topic of conversation for many years now. On multiple occasions it has been criticised for how it interacts with Drag Race performers.
Among the complaints aimed at the show from fans in the past are favouritism of certain queens, casting choices, and more. Last year, Blu Hydrangea and Tia Kofi blasted polls that compared the winners of all the vs. The World series, of which they won in 2022 and 2024 respectively, as “unnecessary.”
The opinions of fans have even caused some queens to quit social media entirely in the past with others, like River, ruling out a return at all.
