Married at First Sight UK is back on our screens, and while the show has featured LGBTQ+ brides and grooms in the past, including Ella Morgan and Charlie and Eve, two queer couples will be walking down the aisle in season 10.

MAFS UK follows individuals, matched by relationship experts Paul C Brunson, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas, who meet for the first time at the altar before jetting off on a honeymoon to see whether they can make it together or not.

The first new episode aired on Sunday (21 September) and introduced viewers to 18 brides and grooms. Among them was bisexual Liverpudlian Leah, who told Diva magazine that walking down the aisle to meet a stranger was a thrilling opportunity.

‘It cuts all stereotypes’

“I was so excited… I couldn’t wait to meet who it was, so the nerves weren’t really there,” she said.

Ahead of the weddings, she met one half of the second same-sex relationship in this series, Keye.

“[He] told me he was so scared walking into a room of men,” Leah went on to say. “When he saw me, he felt instant relief because he knew there was another same-sex marriage here.”

While we wait to see who Leah will meet, it has been revealed that she will be in the show’s first femme-femme relationship. “I think it cuts all stereotypes. In lesbian relationships you see [on television], there’s often a masc and a femme. It’s important to show all relationships as diverse as they can be,” she said.

Davide from Portugal is another member of a prospective gay couple. He was due to be married this year, having planned “a huge wedding” before the relationship “abruptly came to an end”.

He is looking for someone kind-hearted, handsome, romantic and – most importantly – someone to share his love of cats.

Are the gay MAFS UK couples still together?

MAFS UK‘s first gay couple, Matt Jameson and Daniel McKee, appeared in 2021. The pair were together for two years before they split up.

In 2022, the show showcased two queer couples for the first time: Thomas Hartley and Adrian Sanderson, and its first lesbian couple, Jenna Robinson and Zoe Clifton.

While Hartley and Sanderson have gone their separate ways, Robinson and Clifton are still together and regularly post together on Instagram.

In 2023, Mark Kiley and Sean Malkin were paired up but they were never able to overcome their rocky start and the relationship didn’t stand the test of time.

Charlie Curtis and Eve Reid featured on the show last year but became the first couple to leave.
