9-1-1 star Oliver Stark and Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau are set to star in darkly comic film The Long Con.

The short film was written by trans Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe writer-director Aitch Alberto. According to a casting call page, the story follows a runaway bride and her grifter lover who are locked in a romantic stand-off, and will explore love, betrayal and trust, in a sun-bleached desert motel.

Stark plays firefighter Evan (Buck) Buckley in popular ABC drama 9-1-1, one half of the “buddie” ship, alongside Eddie (Ryan Guzman). He has said he’d be open to exploring a relationship between the pair if it’s “the right story to tell”.

Fans have long campaigned for the show to make clear that Buck is bisexual.

Buck has been on a journey since coming out in season seven and shared an unexpected kiss with former firefighter and air operations pilot Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr).

Mau found fame in Netflix’s dark comedy-thriller Baby Reindeer. She earned an Emmy nomination for her performance as trans therapist Teri, and became the first out trans performer to be nominated for a TV BAFTA.

She has previously told PinkNews that she hoped to be cast in a Star Wars project. Abigail Thorn became the first trans actress to star in the sci-fi stories, by appearing in The Acolyte, while new book, The Secrets of the Clone Troopers, introduced trans stormtrooper Sister.

Mau is also one of the stars of Connor Martin’s directorial debut, The Dregs, which follows a group of friends who, while on holiday in the Italian Alps, drink a cursed bottle of Grappa.
