Kristen Stewart recently shared her reason for coming out on Saturday Night Live (SNL), leading many people back to her romantic history with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.
Stewart and Pattinson met in 2007 at an audition for Twilight. They dated on and off from about 2009 until 2013. In 2012, Stewart apologised for having an affair with then-married Rupert Sanders, the director of Snow White and the Huntsman, in which she starred as Snow White.
The actress, who is bisexual and got married to screenwriter Dylan Meyer in 2025, came out during the opening monologue in her debut on SNL in 2017 exclaiming “I’m so gay” after joking about President Trump’s previous interest in her relationship with Pattinson amid the cheating scandal.
She recently shared that she came out in order to “unlock other people’s doors” and make the world a “more open and accepting place”.

But back in 2019, Stewart opened up about falling in love with Pattinson while they were working on theTwilight movies.
She said during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show: “I have this fear that people would assume that maybe I’m, like, you know — it’s kind of attention-y, like, ‘Oh, cool, you’re still, like, pushing that narrative’ or whatever.
“It’s like, no, I’ve actually never been allowed to just say what happened. Because I was so self-conscious about seeming like an attention-seeker.”
Stern told Stewart that, in his opinion, falling in love on set is “the biggest mistake an actor can make”. Stewart laughed and responded: “There was nothing I could do.”
She went on to admit that Pattinson was her first love.
Die My Love actor Pattinson has been in a relationship with actress Suki Waterhouse since 2018.
