Jill Biden proved she’s a Heated Rivalry superfan after bidding $35,000 for the chance to appear in the show during an LGBTQ+ charity auction.
The live auction took place at the NYC LGBT Community Center’s annual Center Dinner, where guests were offered a walk-on role in season two of Heated Rivalry, along with dinner with the cast.
Despite her bid, Biden was ultimately outbid, with the package selling twice over for a whopping $125,000 each.
Biden reacted to her loss on X, writing: “Guess I won’t be heading to the cottage after all – but it was worth a shot! What a wonderful evening supporting LGBT Center NYC.”
The event also honoured Heated Rivalry creator Jacob Tierney and producer Brendan Brady, who received the Cultural Impact Award for their work bringing queer storytelling to mainstream audiences.
They were presented with the award by Rachel Reid, whose popular hockey romance books inspired the series.
Ahead of the ceremony, NYC LGBT Community Center CEO Carla Smith praised the duo for centring queer characters “as fully realised leads” and bringing “queer joy and storytelling to the mainstream”.
Season two of Heated Rivalry, based on Reid’s novel The Long Game, is set to premiere on HBO Max in April 2027, with filming due to begin this summer.
