Sydney Sweeney hopes getting naked in Euphoria ‘helps change double standard’

Actress Sydney Sweeney is throwing everything at Euphoria season three – and quite literally, as her character Cassie has been exploring OnlyFans and adult content creating.
During the first episode, viewers watched as Cassie dressed up as a dog to try and make some quick money for her horny fans online. She went even further in episode two, appearing topless, as an “adult baby” and soaking wet covered in nothing but the American flag.
Needless to say, it’s caused a huge reaction online. Some are thrilled to get a glimpse of Sweeney, while others fear she and the HBO show have gone too far.
But the 28-year-old has stood strong when it comes to nude scenes, noting there only seems to be a stigma around women who get their kit off on camera.
Speaking about her 2021 movie The Voyeurs, she admitted: “I wondered if I’d done too much.”
However, she went on: “I researched celebrities who have done nude scenes, trying to make myself feel better.
“There are hour-long compilations of world-famous male actors with nude scenes who win Oscars and get praised for that work. But the moment a woman does it, it degrades them. They’re not actresses. They just take off their tops so they can get a role.”
During the same interview, from her 2022 Cosmpolitan cover shoot, she added: “I don’t think as many people took me seriously in Euphoria because I took my shirt off … There’s such a double standard. I really hope I can have a little part in changing that.”
Euphoria fans react
Viewers have been left completely divided by Cassie’s saucy storyline since Euphoria season three debuted.
One person celebrating the content creation storyline said: “Low-key love how open and free she is with her body. Lat night’s episode was so good.”
However others worried for her, as one said: “I hope her future projects won’t exploit her for her body.”
Another said on X: “This season of Euphoria being a rite of degradation for Sydney Sweeney and I honestly wanna know what’s going through her head because there’s no way it’s just money money money.”
