Drag Race icon Jade Sotomayor critically injured in car crash

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jade Sotomayor has reportedly been hospitalised in critical condition following a car crash.
News of the accident, reported to have happened in Chicago, was shared by Jade’s longtime friend and fellow Drag Race alum Monica Beverly Hillz, who posted an emotional message alongside an image of herself holding Jade’s hand in hospital.
Few official details have been confirmed, and Entertainment Weekly said it had been unable to verify the crash and had contacted Chicago police.
Hillz urged fans to send “prayers and love”, adding that Jade was “still alive pushing through”.
Those close to her say she suffered serious injuries but remains alive and receiving care, and that her condition has since stabilised. PinkNews has not been able to independently confirm the details.
Well wishes have poured in from across the drag world, with season three winner Raja and season four queen DiDa Ritz among those offering support.
“I want to send love and support to the family of Jade Sotomayor,” Ritz wrote on X. “I’m keeping her in my thoughts and hoping for her recovery.”

Jade was on the first ever season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2009, paving the way for huge names like Trixie Mattel, Monet X Change and Bianca Del Rio to follow in her footsteps.
She came sixth in the season, with BeBe Zahara Benet eventually crowned the winner.
