Yungblud has pulled out of a festival appearance in Canada, telling fans he is taking time off at home in the UK to work on himself and focus on his mental health.

The 28-year-old musician, real name Dominic Harrison, was set to perform at this weekend’s Cowboys Music Festival. He confirmed he would not be appearing as planned, saying he needed to step back and prioritise his wellbeing, days after he spoke of his mental health struggles on TikTok.

In a statement, Yungblud said: “To all my family in Canada, I apologise for not being there with you all this weekend – I’m currently in a place where I’m working on myself and taking time off at home in the UK.”

He added: “I’m taking this extremely seriously and facing head on what’s going on for the good of the long term.”

“I will never take any of this for granted and I will see you all soon. I love you all,” he continued.

His fans were understanding and concerned in the comments. One said: “At the end of the day, I hope he is ok. Mental health is no joke.”

Another commented: “We all had a gut feeling and was really hoping it would go away, but genuinely very valid and he needs to work on him and come back stronger.”

A third commented: “Take all the time you need to get healthy, Dom! Canada loves you, and we’ll be here waiting to see you whenever you’re back and ready.”

As someone else said: “Hope Dom gets the rest and love he needs.”

Bludfest speech: “I have felt so disconnected”

The announcement follows an emotional onstage moment at Bludfest in Czechia, where he spoke to the crowd about how he had been feeling.

In the clip, he said: “Lately, I have felt so disconnected from everything.”

“I have been trying my best to wake up every day,” he continued.

Yungblud also told the audience: “I have felt in pain a lot and I don’t know why for a long time.”

He went on to describe finding comfort in the crowd, adding: “But every time I find your faces, every time I find your eyes, every time I look at you, I know that I belong somewhere.”

“And to feel safe from the outside world is something that I can never thank you enough for,” he said.

In his Bludfest speech, he ended with a message of solidarity to fans, saying: “And all I wanna say is that this is for your family. If you are ever scared, if you are ever frightened, if you are ever threatened, we will be there.”

“I will f****** be there for you,” he added.

Yungblud and his fan community

Yungblud is known for blending pop-punk, alternative rock and hip-hop influences, alongside a confrontational, politically outspoken public persona. He has built a devoted fan community around themes of outsider identity, mental health, and youth alienation, often addressing fans directly during live shows.
