Teen drama Sterling Point delights sapphic fans: ‘Beautiful women and an actually good storyline’

It’s only been a day since Sterling Point premiered on Prime Video, but fans have gone feral over the show’s sapphic scenes.
Megan Park’s show chronicles Annie (Ella Rubin) moving to a mysterious island her grandfather left to her and her brother after his death. There, she discovers she has a sister: the free-spirited and queer Ramona (Amélie Hoeferle).
Fans were delighted by the show’s authentic inclusion of queer storylines and lesbian characters. Alongside Ramona, there is gender nonconforming character Sully (Nikko Angelo Hinayo) and Ramona’s love interest, Oona (Bo Bragason).
Also, Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova (who plays Svetlana in Heated Rivalry) stars in the show as a queer character named Stacey.
The coming-of-age drama premiered on Prime Video on Wednesday (5 July) and received a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, comprised of 24 reviews.
‘Queer representation just makes sense’
Speaking about the show’s queer representation, Megan Park told OUT: “It just feels like queer representation just makes sense.
“It felt authentic to these actors and the story, and it just kind of feels like a no-brainer to me. I’m just always trying to make things feel authentic and character-driven first and foremost.”
“I just always hope that people feel seen to a degree, and or understood, in a way that they haven’t felt represented before in something that they’ve watched.”
Following the show’s premiere, fans were quick to share their thoughts on the show’s portrayal of the LGBTQ+ community.
“This lesbian from sterling point is the most lesbian lesbian that exists even francesca bridgerton never went that far,” one fan declared.
‘The lesbians are buzzy’
Another shared: “this delicious meal that is sterling point lesbians Wow.”
“Sterling Point is a 10/10 the two female leads aren’t fighting over a man they’re both incredibly likeable and supportive of each others grief they’re both messy and they are actually realistic young adults the lesbians are buzzy and the plot is amazing” another fan detailed.
Also, the news that there was lesbians in the show was even a reason for some to tune in. As one individual posted “Sterling Point I’m gonna check you out,” in response to a queer clip from the show.
Another fan of the show noted that they are already hoping for a second season. They wrote: “Sterling Point has sapphics and beautiful women and an actually good storyline and is also coproduced by the creators of the oc and gossip girl and megan park if i don’t get that s2 renewal there will be problems. everyone go watch.”
