Indya Moore says she no longer identifies as nonbinary: ‘My pronouns are she/her’

Indya Moore has shared a personal update about her gender identity and pronouns, saying she no longer identifies as nonbinary and now uses she/her pronouns.
“I no longer identify as nonbinary. My pronouns are she/her. Please be kind to me. I may share more later,” Moore wrote on an Instagram stories post on Monday night (31 August), closing the message with “love, solidarity, peace and gratitude”.
Moore is best known for playing Angel Evangelista on FX’s groundbreaking series Pose, which followed New York City’s ballroom scene and the lives of its predominantly LGBTQ+ characters in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The role made Moore a major figure in trans representation on television, and in 2019, TIME named her one of its 100 most influential people in the world.
Moore has also worked extensively as a model, including campaigns and collaborations with Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, and has appeared in films including Ponyboi and Father Mother Sister Brother.
In 2019, Moore publicly described herself as nonbinary during an interview with L’Officiel Singapore alongside her Pose co-star MJ Rodriguez and said she preferred they/them pronouns.
At the time, Moore also spoke about the complicated experience of being perceived as a woman while identifying outside the gender binary, explaining that she sometimes allowed people to use she/her because she feared being perceived as “difficult” or because she did not feel people were ready to understand her identity.
Now, Moore is making clear that her identity has changed. She no longer identifies as nonbinary and is asking to be referred to with she/her pronouns.
