If you can’t get enough of Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams, you’ll be seeing a double dose of him in Yaga.
The upcoming mystery-thriller series is based on Kat Sandler’s 2019 play Yaga, a reimagining of the Slavic folklore figure Baba Yaga.
Williams was initially announced to be playing Henry Park, the young heir to a powerful fishery whose disappearance sets the story in motion.
However, it was subsequently confirmed that alongside Henry, he’ll be playing Logan. Logan doesn’t exist in the original play, so Williams’ other character remains a mystery.
Is Logan Henry’s twin? Or some folklorish body double? We’ll have to wait and see.
“Hudson Williams takes on TWO roles in #YAGA. Meet Henry and Logan. Coming this October on [Crave],” the post teased.
In a Polaroid showing the two characters, Williams is seen as Henry, with his arm around himself as Logan.
After the announcement, fans rewatched the trailer and noticed that Williams’ double role may be an integral part of the series.
Additionally, one very brief moment may reveal that Williams’ characters are part of a threesome. In the scene, Williams as Henry is kissing a woman while his finger is in the mouth of a mystery man.
Upon reflection, it does indeed look like the mystery man could be Williams’ side profile.
“No sorry but so in Yaga in the threesome scene does he literally do himself? DAMN Hudson Williams what can I say,” one fan posted.
Another added: “So… were we actually looking at Henry + Logan this entire time??? Because suddenly the ‘Hudson having a threesome with Hudson’ allegations are looking a lot less delusional.”
The role marks a notable next step for Williams, following his breakout performance in the hit queer hockey romance that is now in production for season two. Yaga also keeps him within the Crave family, the Canadian streamer behind that show.
What is Yaga about?
Writer and showrunner Sandler’s show follows private investigator Rapp (Schitt’s Creek star Noah Reid) arriving in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park.
There, he finds himself caught between an apprehensive local detective (The Changeling’s Clark Backo), a charismatic university professor “with a taste for younger men” (The Matrix’s Carrie-Anne Moss), and a web of secrets and ancient magic.
Sandler said the series evolved from “myth to stage” into her first greenlit series. She also shared: “Reclaiming the wicked witch and reshaping her as an incendiary feminist antihero for our time.”
She continued: “It reflects the kind of storytelling I love: propulsive, accessible, dark, funny and unapologetically bold.”
The eight-part series will premiere exclusively in the UK on Sky and streaming service NOW this October. It will stream on Crave in Canada and AMC+ in the US.
